DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- While rain washed out all but two 45-minute practice sessions Monday at Daytona International Speedway, Tuesday's activities will proceed as scheduled. Infield or grandstand general admission is $8. Practice sessions for NASCAR Goody's Dash, Busch and Winston Cup Series cars will run from 8 a.m. to noon.
Busch Beer Second-Round Qualifying for the Daytona 500 will be held at 12:30 p.m. This will be the final qualifying session to determine starting positions for Thursday's Gatorade 125-Mile Qualifying Races. Drivers Mike Skinner and Steve Grissom secured the pole positions for the first and second Gatorade 125s, respectively, in Busch Pole Award Qualifying Saturday. Due to Monday's rain, third-round qualifying for the NASCAR Winston Cup cars will not be held.
Following NASCAR Winston Cup qualifying, the top 25 starting positions for Saturday's Gargoyles 300 NASCAR Busch Series event will be established by the 52 entries. Jeff Purvis is the defending Busch Pole Award winner for the Gargoyles 300 while Todd Bodine posted the fastest speed in practice Monday, 189.056 mph, in the Stanley Pontiac.
Following NASCAR Busch Series qualifying, the top 20 starting positions for Friday's Discount Auto Parts 200 NASCAR Goody's Dash Series race will be decided by the 60 entries. Mike Swaim Jr., the defending Busch Pole Award winner for the Discount Auto Parts 200, was fastest in practice Monday at 164.246 mph in the Falcon Racing Pontiac.
