DAVIDSON, North Carolina - March 29, 2001 - The Busch Series Ladies Association (BSLA) will hold a raffle for two hand-made quilts to be awarded during the 2001 season.
The first quilt* will be given away at New Hampshire International Speedway in honor of Adam Petty. Last year's race winners, Tim Fedewa (Busch Series), and Brad Leighton (Busch North) will pick the winning ticket during the pre-race ceremonies for the "Busch 200" to be held Saturday, May 12. The second quilt is in honor of Tony Roper and will tentatively be awarded at Kansas Speedway in September.
The quilts are red, white and blue patchwork, and are adorned with the signatures of 35 drivers competing in the NASCAR Busch Series. Bea Wendell of Rumney, New Hampshire, made the quilts for the Association.
Tickets will go on sale April 1stand are priced at $5.00 each. Race fans can log on to www.buschladies.com to purchase their raffle tickets by credit card, or send a check payable to the Busch Series Ladies Association, P.O. Box 124, Davidson, North Carolina, 28036. All will receive a raffle ticket receipt in order to claim their prize.
The Busch North Series Ladies Auxiliary (BNSLA) has also agreed to offer raffle tickets for sale at most Busch North events throughout the month of April. The ticket purchase deadline for the quilt awarded at New Hampshire is Monday, May 7.
Proceeds for the first quilt will go to the Petty family's "Hole in the Wall Gang" program in addition to supporting the many efforts of the BNSLA and the BSLA. The BSLA, founded in 1996, works to promote the sport of stock car racing through its programs of assistance and support for all Busch Series families. This effort includes raising funds to provide financial help for all race participants suffering injury or tragedy.
