MOORESVILLE, NC (August 7, 2003) - When Paul Wolfe visited Holland International Speedway in June, it was a homecoming for his team's primary sponsor because Tops Friendly Markets is headquartered in Western New York. When Wolfe visits Watkins Glen International for the NASCAR Grand National Division, Busch North Series race on Saturday, Aug. 9, it will be his personal homecoming.
Wolfe, a native of Milford (near Cooperstown), will run in the Mohegan Sun 150 at the 2.45-mile road course after taking the last two weeks off to prepare for his Busch Series debut in September. Bud Pole Qualifying will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 8. The race is scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m.
"Watkins Glen is the closest to a home track I have in this series," Wolfe said. "I enjoy coming here. We have come very close to winning in our last two visits."
This will be Wolfe's third appearance at Watkins Glen, and he has led the race in both 2001 and 2002. He finished third in 2001 in a race that was nationally televised on NBC. Last year Wolfe wound up 14th, but he was running third until he was spun out in the last few laps of the race.
SPEED Channel will broadcast the Mohegan Sun 150 on Saturday, August 23 at 10 a.m.
