Bill Penfold has tough race at Thunder Road
Bill Penfold and the #0 Penfold Motorsports Team had a rough weekend at Thunder Road International Speedbowl.
The team brought the same car, the Pontiac, which they wrecked just two weeks ago in Jennerstown. They worked very hard to get the car together in time to the Jiffy Lube 150 at Thunder Road.
Bill took the car out and was very loose in first round qualifying. He was unable to be one of the 16 fastest during that session, so the team opted to re-qualify during second round qualifying. They were again unable to be among the fastest then, so the team had to use a provisional to make the field.
Bill started the #0 Penfold Motorsports Pontiac 24th in the race, but started dropping back quickly. He brought the car in during a caution period and the team tried to make adjustments. After several pit stops and more adjustments, they were able to make the car handle well enough for Bill to be competitive, but it was too late, as he was already several laps down to the leaders. He finished the race in 24th, right where he started the event.
The team will be heading for Thompson Speedway in Connecticut for the 300 lap Busch North Series event there this weekend. Bill is currently 10th in Busch North series points standings.
