DION WINS BUSCH NORTH RACE AT OXFORD PLAINS

OXFORD, Maine (Aug. 29, 2005) -- When the NASCAR Grand National Division, Busch North Series competitors took the green flag for the Fisher Snowplows 150, it marked the first time in 14 seasons the series raced at Oxford Plains Speedway.

So, it figured that the winner would be a driver that was old enough to remember racing on the 3/8-mile oval in a Busch North car.

Dave Dion, the 61-year old veteran who seems to get better with the years, collected his first Busch North victory in four seasons and the 13th series victory of his career when he beat Ryan Moore to the finish by less than half a second.

Dion, who has raced for years against Ryan Moore's father, Kelly, led all but seven laps of the 150-lap event. He averaged 57.495 mph.

Ryan Moore finished second. Matt Kobyluck, Brian Hoar and Andy Santerre rounded out the top five finishers.

Mike Johnson won the Busch Pole Award with a lap averaging 86.627 mph. There were 24 cars in the starting field.

Goodyear is the exclusive tire supplier for NASCAR's Grand National Division. The GDN includes the NASCAR West Series.

The next race for the Busch North Series will be Sept. 16 at New Hampshire International Speedway.
