Concord, NC (May 16th) By the time this weekend is over, Ron Hornaday hopes to have survived 116 laps between the Winston Open and the Winston at Lowe¹s Motor Speedway on Saturday and 200 laps at the Nazareth Speedway for the Busch Series race on Sunday.
This is not the first time Hornaday has had to pull double driving duties between a NASCAR Busch Series and NASCAR Winston Cup Series event. Last year, he competed in 8 races for the No. 11 Busch Series team, while still competing full time for AJ Foyt Racing¹s No. 14 Winston Cup team. Hornaday will fill in for Shawna Robinson in this weekend¹s Winston Open and the Coca Cola Family 600 next weekend.
Since the Atlanta race in March, Hornaday has been working with the BAM Racing team in a consultant role. ³I hope that I can help them grow as a team. They have a lot of talent over here and I just want to see them be successful and competitive.²
Hornaday brings more than 22 years of racing experience to the BAM Racing team, including two NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Championships, 18-top-10 finishes and two career Busch Series wins, and one full season on NASCAR¹s elite Winston Cup Series.
Hornaday hopes to give the BAM Racing team a good showing under the lights of Lowe¹s Motor Speedway for the Winston Open. Bud Pole qualifying will begin Friday, May 17th at 7:05 p.m. EST. The green flag drops on the Winston Open at 7:30 p.m. EST, Saturday, May 18th. The event will be televised live on FX and broadcast live on MRN radio starting at 7:00 p.m. EST.
