KOBYLUCK WINS NASCAR BUSCH EAST RACE AT WATERFORD

WATERFORD, Conn. (Aug. 19, 2006) -- Matt Kobyluck led virtually the entire race and won the Big Y World Class Market 150 race for the NASCAR Grand National Division, Busch East Series at the Waterford Speedbowl.

Kobyluck led four times for a total of 113 laps over the 150-lap chase around the three-eights-mile, semi-banked, asphalt oval. The race was slowed by a series of caution periods and Kobyluck's average speed was 49.079 mph. His victory margin was .462 of a second.

Bryon Chew was second, followed by Brian Hoar, Mike Olsen and Mike Johnson. The field included 27 starters.

Sean Caisse won the Busch Pole Award and made history in the process. Caisse set a track record and did so using the new spec engine NASCAR has started phasing into Grand National competition. The record is 14.800 seconds, an average speed of 91.216 mph.

Olsen now sits atop the Busch East standings with 1,355 points. Caisse is next with 1,311.

Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the Grand National Division, which also includes the AutoZone West Series. The two series share a common rulebook and a common list of tire codes. The Goodyear Eagles built for the Grand National Division are of bias-ply construction.
