Cylinder Heads From Jack Bailey's Car Determined Illegal

After post race inspection, the cylinder heads from Jack Bailey's Ford, the second place finisher from last Saturday night's 100-lap event, have been determined illegal. Officials today announced that upon inspection, the cylinder heads had performance enhancing modifications. "The heads were inspected Saturday night by our officials and determined illegal. But we wanted to make sure so they conferred with NASCAR this week. Upon further review by Lynn Carroll, Shayne Laws, and NASCAR's Jerry Cook, they determined the heads were indeed not legal," said Hayne Dominick, General Manager of the Old Dominion Speedway.

With this decision, all points from the July 2nd event that Bailey accrued (48 points for finishing 2nd) have bee taken from him. This, combined with the 7th place finish of Richard Boswell Jr., gives Boswell Jr. the point lead by a scant 2 point lead heading into this week's racing action. The top five drivers are now separated by just 26 points (Boswell -- 468, Bailey -- 466, Butler -- 454, Buttke -- 444, and Storm -- 442).

This Saturday night, the Late Models return with twin 75 lap features, which could further scramble the points standings.
