Andy Seuss Looks Back at a Successful 2008 Season; New Hampshire Racer Keeps Busy in the North and South

HAMPSTEAD, NH (November 21, 2008) -- Andy Seuss had a busy 2008 racing season. He had his regular gig as the driver of the #47 Advance Auto Parts / Q Racing Oil Modified fielded by Riggs Racing on the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour to keep him busy and then he filled in the gaps of that schedule with even more events up North in his family-owned #70 Rockingham Boat /Stuart's Automotive Modified.

The results included a SMT victory at Caraway Speedway (NC), a finish of fourth in the SMT point standings and top five finishes at tracks ranging from New Hampshire's All-Star Speedway to North Carolina's Bowman-Gray Stadium to Florida's New Smyrna Speedway.

"It's been a great season," said Seuss. "There's been a lot of traveling, but that hasn't been too bad. Every time that I went down south, the Riggs team gave me a good car. They gave me a great opportunity back in the spring and it worked out to be a great experience.

"On the other side, my team was very understanding to let me do whatever I needed to do down south. It allowed us to focus on our cars up north a little bit more because we weren't racing every week. We were more prepared, but the luck just wasn't with us to get a win up north. We had some great runs on the Whelen Tour, a All-Star Speedway and at New Smyrna to start the year."

Seuss is looking forward to another chance to race Modifieds at tracks all across the land in 2009.

"Now I'm just excited to hopefully do that same thing next year," said Seuss. "Our car will always be ready to race and hopefully we can compete at places like Thompson and Loudon. Down south, I'm looking forward to spending another year with the Riggs and showing up to a really fast car every race. Working with Advance Auto Parts and Q Racing Oil was great too. It brought everything to a new level to work with such professionals. I also got to meet a lot of new people at those companies and new fans too. They really helped to take fan appreciation to a new level for me. It's a lot different than just showing up to race at the track."

Seuss' crowning moment of the season came at the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour banquet where he was the recipient of the 2008 Driver Achievement award. Seuss was quick to credit his team though for that individual honor.

"We got the Driver Achievement award, but this is a team sport and the only reason that I looked good was because I had such a good team behind me. They really inspired me to drive even harder because of all their hard work. We had different things that happened during the year and they overcame it all. That just gave me even more motivation when I got behind the wheel."
