“It was a tough field today – a lot of fast cars"
AVONDALE, Ariz. – Mike Wallace gained eight positions in the first 20 laps of Saturday’s ServiceMaster 200 Nationwide Series race at Phoenix International Raceway and brought the JD Motorsports with Gary Keller Chevrolet home 25th.
Wallace started 34th but moved into 26th place only 20 laps into the race. He settled into mid-pack for the rest of the afternoon.
“We had a pretty good car but couldn’t push forward after that first part of the race,” Wallace said. “It was a tough field today – a lot of fast cars. We had a good time with the Verve folks and appreciate them doing a partnership with us again.”
Wallace stayed 17th in Nationwide driver points.
Kyle Busch won the race, scoring his 12th win of the Nationwide season. Austin Dillon leads the points, with Sam Hornish Jr. eight back in second place.
Only one race remains on the Nationwide schedule – Nov. 16 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
