With the Nationwide race being a standalone event, multiple teams have opted to go outside the sport for talent.
With Cup and Trucks in Michigan, the NASCAR Nationwide race at Mid-Ohio will see a number of road course ringers in the field. At the top of this list is Alex Tagliani, who will pilot the No. 22 machine for Team Penske.
Joining Tagliani in top tier equipment will be Australian Kenny Habul, who will pilot the No. 20 for Joe Gibbs Racing. Justin Marks will be driving for Turner Motorsports in the No. 31 and Sam Hornish Jr. will take the wheel of Gibbs' No. 54. He may have raced full-time last year, but can technically be qualified as a ringer with how few starts he's making in 2014 and how experienced he is on road courses.
Other ringers who are also taking part will be Stanton Barrett, Tim Cowen, Bobby Reuse, Carlos Contreras, and even Matt Dibenedetto, who has also proven his worth on ovals in the past.
