After announce just over a month ago that it was discontinuing its NASCAR sponsor at the end of the season, OneMain on Wednesday signed a multi-year extension of its sponsorship of driver Elliott Sadler at JRM.
With last week’s announce that current Camping World Truck Series points leader William Byron will join JRM in 2017, the organization is now set to field three fulltime Xfinity teams next season (along with Justin Allgaier) as well as an occasional part-time fourth entry.
“Elliott and OneMain are integral pieces to the make-up of our company,” said Kelley Earnhardt Miller, JRM’s general manager. “Elliott’s talent speaks for itself, but what’s more, his experience and leadership is completely necessary for our younger guys. He brings a professionalism and charisma that permeates our entire organization, and I think he brings it to OneMain as well.
“I’m glad they have decided to come back with their sponsorship. We’ve got many things to accomplish together.”
OneMain will appear as primary sponsor for 20 races on Sadler’s No. 1 Chevrolet next season.
“This is a dream come true for me,” said Sadler, 41, the current Xfinity Series points leader. “OneMain is a great partner and we’re fortunate to have this stability moving forward to compete for race wins and championships for years to come. I’m as energized as I’ve ever been.”
This season, Sadler has one win (at Talladega, Ala.), seven top-five and a series-leading 19 top-10 finishes in 22 starts. He has been an Xfinity series regular since 2011, twice producing runner-up finishes in the series standings (2011-12).
