2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series Champion Visits Nationwide Insurance Headquarters
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Dec. 8, 2009) -- Kyle Busch, the 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series champion, officially will conclude the festivities surrounding his first NASCAR national series title on Wednesday, Dec. 9. He'll travel to Columbus, Ohio, where he'll take part in a full day -- and evening -- of activities hosted by series sponsor Nationwide Insurance.
Nationwide's headquarters are located in Ohio's capital city.
This is the second consecutive year the series champion has made the trek to Columbus. Last year, Clint Bowyer kicked off his Champion's Week activities with this visit. Since the 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Awards Banquet was a combined event immediately following the season-finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Nov. 23, Busch's trip allows his coronation events to be extended.
Busch's day begins with a luncheon at Nationwide. After lunch, he'll assist "Brutus," the Ohio State Buckeye mascot, and "Stinger," the mascot for the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League, in loading holiday food boxes at the Mid-Ohio Food Bank.
Later in the afternoon, Busch will meet with Nationwide associates for a Q & A session followed by dinner that includes a meet and greet with guests and contest winners prior to the NASCAR-themed "Nationwide Night" for the Blue Jackets-Florida Panthers game.
A short jaunt to Nationwide Arena, home of the Blue Jackets, will wind the day down. In recognition of Busch's championship, select upper bowl tickets are priced at $18 in honor of Busch's car number. He'll play a trivia game with fans in the Nationwide Fan Lounge before being introduced prior to the start of the game. The puck drops at 7 p.m. ET.
Busch also will take part in a live interview on FOX Sports Ohio following the first period.
The 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series/NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Awards Banquet will be re-broadcast on Friday Dec. 11 from 8-10 p.m. ET, Saturday, Dec. 12 from 12 p.m.-2 a.m. ET and Saturday, Dec. 12 from 2-4 p.m. ET.
