Sadler takes Iowa win week after black flag

Elliott Sadler got his No. 2 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet by the No. 31 Turner Motorsports Chevrolet of Justin Allgaier on lap 195 of the 250-lap U.S. Cellular 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Iowa Speedway in Newton on Saturday to claim his fourth win of the season.

"This win means a ton to me," Sadler said in victory lane, referring to a late-race black flag to took him out of the lead last weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Allgaier finished second, and Sam Hornish was third in the No. 12 Penske Racing Dodge.

Sadler started on the pole but lost the lead to the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota of Darrell Wallace Jr. on lap one. Wallace continued to lead until he was passed by the No. 3 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet on Austin Dillon on lap 37.

Sadler got back up front when he got out in front of Dillon on a restart following a competition caution that came out on lap 50. But Dillon got back by for the top spot on lap 61.

Both Sadler and Dillon lost several positions on pit road when the yellow flag waved on lap 90 after taking four fresh tires. Allgaier and Hornish got off pit road first and second by taking only two.

Allgaier was able to stay up front with two older tires for 101 laps. As Allgaier ran up front, both Sadler and Dillon made their moves back toward to the front. Sadler got back up to second on lap 107. By lap 138, Dillon had moved back up to third he had to make an unscheduled pit stop for a tire issue.

Allgaier pulled away from the rest of the field after a restart following the third caution of the race that came out on lap 172, as Sadler raced side-by-side with the No. 54 Kyle Busch Motorsports Toyota of Kurt Busch. Sadler finally got out in front of Busch, and on lap 195, he moved past Allgaier for the lead.

"We were good early in a run and late in a run, but he just got out too far in front of me," Allgaier said.

Sadler led the rest of the way.

"I'm driving with a lot of confidence right now," Sadler said.

Busch fell off the pace and headed down pit road from the third spot with seven laps to go, moving Hornish into the third spot.

With his third-place finish, Hornish claimed the $100,000 Dash 4 Cash bonus.

Michael Annett, from nearby Des Moines Iowa, drove the No. 43 Richard Petty Motorsports Ford to a fourth-place finish. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. finished fifth after winning the last three Nationwide events at Iowa.

"We just didn't have any grip all weekend," Stenhouse said. "They changed the tires on us right before we got here."

Finishing sixth through 10th were Michael McDowell in the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota, Wallace, Jason Leffler in the No. 30 Turner Motorsports Chevrolet, Brett Moffitt in the No. 99 RAB Racing Toyota and Ryan Blaney in the No. 22 Penske Racing Dodge.
