Sadler To Race No. 9 Wisk Dodge at Richmond
STATESVILLE, N.C. -- When Elliott Sadler gets behind the wheel of the No. 9 Wisk Dodge Charger this Friday night at Richmond International Raceway it will be a very familiar feeling. Sadler, a native of nearby Emporia, Va., will make his 14 career Nationwide Series starts at the .75-mile D-shaped oval -- more than any other race track he has visited in a Nationwide Series car.
Sadler's first trip to Richmond in the Nationwide Series came in September 1995 when he finished 24th. It was only his second career Nationwide Series start following an eighth place finish at South Boston in July of '05. Sadler is making his first Richmond start in the Nationwide Series since 2006.
The No. 9 Dodge is coming off a 23rd-place finish by Chase Miller at California. Sadler's last Nationwide Series start of the season came at Bristol where he started fourth and finished 21st.
On Richmond International Raceway: "I just think it's a great racetrack. I wish we had more tracks like that on the schedule. It's a great .75-mile track that has a little bit of a speedway sensation on the front stretch and a short track feel with how sharp the corners are. The grooves get pretty wide where you can get two wide and race really hard. I've really seen some great races there in the past. There is always a lot of energy on this night and especially this weekend with everyone getting ready to start the Chase.
"I thoroughly enjoy going to that racetrack. I love that part of Virginia. They do a great job as far as the race fans and they have a lot of sellouts going in a row, so hopefully it will be like that again on Saturday."
Chassis Info: The No. 9 Wisk Dodge will be racing GEM chassis #B 009 at Richmond. It is the same chassis that qualified on the pole at Richmond in the spring. The same chassis also recorded GEM's first Nationwide Series win at Kansas in 2005.
Sadler at Richmond: In 13 career Nationwide Series starts at Richmond, Sadler has recorded one top five and three top-10 finishes, all coming in the last five races. He made his second career Nationwide Series start at Richmond in 1995 where he started 28th and finished 24th. Sadler's 13 career Nationwide Series starts at Richmond is more than at any other track.
