This Week's Zaxby's Chevrolet at Richmond ... Clint Bowyer will drive Chassis No. 087 in Friday's Virginia 529 College Savings 250. This is the first time that NNS teams will utilize the "New Car" at Richmond, a revised chassis that is based off the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Car of Tomorrow and designed to promote safety, cost containment for race teams and better brand identity for the NASCAR Nationwide Series as a whole.
Meet Danny Stockman ... Danny Stockman will serve as crew chief for the No. 21 Zaxby's Chevrolet this weekend. Stockman, the fulltime crew chief for Raybestos rookie of the year contender Austin Dillon in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, made his debut as Bowyer's crew chief in the NNS at Bristol in August and is splitting crew chief duties with RCR's Gere Kennon this season. Several members of the No. 3 Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet will join Stockman in Richmond this weekend.
Hometown Proud ... PJ Bryant, shock specialist for the No. 21 Zaxby's Chevrolet team, is a native of Dale City, Virginia, which is located about 85 miles north of Richmond. Bryant, a long-time employee of RCR, worked on Bowyer's 2008 NNS championship team.
Double Duty ... Following Friday's Great Virginia 529 College Savings 250, Bowyer will compete in Saturday's Air Guard 400 race at Richmond in the No. 33 Cheerios/Hamburger Helper Chevrolet.
You've won a Nationwide race and a Cup race at Richmond. What is the key to winning at this short track?
"It's important to keep all four fenders are on the car if you want to be in contention to win at the end of the race. Aerodynamics is crucial at Richmond. A few years ago, I ripped my right-front fender off during the Nationwide race and it prevented me from winning. It will be interesting to go to there this time around with the NNS New Car. I think the competition will remain just as stout as it has been at Richmond in the past. I love going to Richmond because the track has several grooves and races well. It's usually a great show for the fans. We're heading into the race with one goal - to win."
