Kleenex Racing Team Brings Home Another Top 20; Fifth Top-20 Finishs Keeps K eller in Top 10 of NNS Points
NASHVILLE, Tenn., April, 20, 2009 -- Jason Keller finished the Bashas' Supermarkets 200 at Phoenix International Raceway on Friday night right where he qualified, in 17th place. Keller has now finished equal to or better than where he started in all but one race this season allowing him to remain ranked 10th in the NASCAR Nationwide Series point standings.
After going a lap down in the first half of the race, Keller and the Kleenex? Racing crew battled to get the lap back all race. On lap 156 as Keller dove to the inside of Scott Wimmer to put the Huggies? Ford Fusion in position for the Lucky Dog, cars ahead in the pack checked up, causing minor damage to the left-front fender of the No. 27.
Keller finally earned the lucky dog when another caution occurred on lap 187, but he had to start from the back of the pack when the race went back to green. Another yellow on lap 197 moved the Huggies? Ford Fusion to the tail-end of the lead pack for the green-white-checker finish but Keller, despite a feverish attempt, could not advance position.
"Our goal coming into this race was a top-10 finish, but the car just wasn't as fast as we would've liked it to be," Keller said. "On the bright side it goes to show just how much this team has improved that even when we're not at our best we can still finish in the top 20."
Keller and the rest of the NASCAR Nationwide Series head to the Talladega Superspeedway for the running of the Aaron's 312 Saturday at 3:00 p.m. EST.
