BIRES STRONG STRAIGHT OFF THE TRUCK IN NASHVILLE

Kelly Bires has made a strong start in practice for the Pepsi 300 with eighth and 11th in the two sessions held at Nashville Siperspeedway in Lebanon, Tennessee today.

Bires posted strong times in both sessions in the #47 Clorox Ford Fusion at the 1.33-mile speedway, putting him in a good position to record his first top 10 finish for the season this weekend at Nashville.

Bires, who currently sits 11th in the 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series standings, made his Nationwide Series debut as Nashville last season, scoring 15th in his first race in the #47 Clorox Ford Fusion.

Kyle Busch was fastest in final practice today ahead of Mike Bliss and Clint Bowyer.

Bires and the JTG Racing crew will be in action again tomorrow with qualifying and the 225-lap Pepsi 300 held tomorrow.

WHAT HE HAD TO SAY --

Kelly Bires -- #47 Clorox Ford Fusion

"This is probably the first time we've unloaded the Clorox car and had it so good right off the truck," said Bires.

"We've got a great car here at Nashville. It's the same car we ran at Atlanta but we've made some changes back at the shop that have improved it further.

"We made some changes to the car but in the end they were not for the better so we went back to our start set-up and the car is just great.

"We've got a top 10 car and that's what we are here to do -- run at the front.

"We have a really balanced car and we've just got to make some small changes to keep up with the changing track conditions.

"It shows how much improvement is going on back in the JTG Racing workshop."
