No. 9 SUBWAY Dodge Charger Gilles Villeneuve Circuit Preview
In what could arguably be the most anticipated return of a driver to the Nationwide Series this season, Patrick Carpentier will take to the Gilles Villeneuve Circuit this weekend. The Quebec-native stunned the NASCAR world with his run at the event last year. Carpentier, with no previous Nationwide starts at the time, took the pole and finished second in his inaugural race.
Now a year and seven starts later, the NASCAR rookie has earned two top-five and four top-10 finishes.
TV and Radio Times: Qualifying is set for Saturday at 12:30 p.m. (ET) on ESPN2. Race time: Saturday at 3:30 p.m. (ET) on ESPN2.
DRIVER PATRICK CARPENTIER QUOTES:
"It's amazing how much things can change in just a short time. A year ago we had just scraped enough money to race at Gilles Villeneuve Circuit. Now I'm blessed to be racing every week. We've come such a long way. I'm thrilled that things played out the way they did. Gillett Evernham Motorsports is a wonderful organization to be involved with. Each week they're fielding competitive racecars and everything needed for success we have at our disposal.
"I've always wanted to race in NASCAR. It was a dream of mine that I never thought would become a reality. Now each week when I'm on pit road before the race and see all the fans, I still can't believe it.
"Last year we had quite the battle with Kevin Harvick and Robby Gordon. That's the same kind of racing I hope that fans get to see again this weekend. There will be some really strong drivers in the field. We're hoping for good results with our Subway Dodge. Subway has a long standing tradition with this racetrack and the people of Montreal so we're hoping we can help get them to victory lane."
* Carpentier will drive chassis No. B19 at Montreal. It last raced at the road course in Mexico City where it finished fifth. Backup is B10.
