RWR PRACTICE NOTES: PAPIS STRONG IN MEXICO CITY PRACTICES
--Steve Wallace and Team 66 Put Both Rusty Wallace Racing Entries among Top-20 Fastest--

MEXICO CITY (April 18, 2008)--Team Atreus Homes & Communities Rusty Wallace Racing driver, Max Papis and his No. 64 team were among the top-ten fastest in both of this afternoon's practice sessions for Sunday's NASCAR Corona Mexico 200 at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City, Mexico. Papis posted the 8th-fastest time in both sessions, with his fastest lap of the day (89.120 seconds, 101.715 MPH) occurring on his 17th--and final--lap of this afternoon's final practice session. Papis was also unofficially among the ten fastest in average lap speed during both of today's sessions.

Noted Papis, "I am pleased with the way our team has worked together so far. We could have put up a lot faster single-lap speed today, but I ran up on a really slow car during our practice qualifying run. Overall, we had a good day, but I think that we can still work to make our car better. We're going to make a few changes overnight and I know that our team will not stop working on the car as the race goes on. If we can stay on course, I feel as if we have as good of a chance as anyone to end up in victory lane on Sunday."

Papis's teammate, No. 66--Steve Wallace, was one of the fastest Nationwide Series regulars in today's practice sessions. His fastest lap of 89.738 seconds (101.014 MPH) placed him 17th fastest in the afternoon's final practice session. Wallace was unofficially among the ten fastest in average lap speed during the morning practice session as well.

Said Wallace, "For me, today was a lot about just getting used to the track again. Harold (Holly, crew chief) and the guys worked really hard today and we got our car a lot better as the day went on. I think we could have been close to the top ten in final practice, but we got blocked hard by a really slow car during our practice qualifying run and it just killed our lap. There are a lot of good road racers here, but I really feel as if we can compete. If we can just manage to stay on the racetrack Sunday, I think that a top-ten finish is a very realistic goal."
