Kyle Busch looking forward to fall race at Charlotte

KYLE BUSCH Returns to Team's Home Track with Anticipation

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Oct. 9, 2012) - Owner-driver Kyle Busch will make his 18th NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) start for Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM), piloting the No. 54 Monster Energy Camry at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway (CMS) in Friday's Dollar General 300. Busch is very familiar with Victory Lane at his team's home track, winning 10 times in 42 career starts across NASCAR's top three divisions - including a record-tying six in the Nationwide Series.

Busch, recorded as the youngest NNS winner in 2004 on the 1.5-mile oval, last experienced Victory Lane at CMS in a 2011 Truck Series race. Prior to that year, he accomplished first place in the Nationwide Series during the fall of 2009 and the summer of 2010. Behind the scenes, KBM crew chief Mike Beam last experienced victory lane at CMS in the fall race of the 2011 Nationwide Series. Together in the 2012 spring race event, the two accomplished a third-place finish with their new No. 54 Monster Energy team.

The 27-year-old driver has recorded at least one pole at Charlotte in each of the last eight seasons, but none of those have come in the Nationwide Series. Busch will look to add a second NNS season pole to his resume and then set his sights on accomplishing his first Nationwide Series win with his own team, adding to the success he has already achieved on his team's home-town track.

Kyle Busch, Driver of the No. 54 NASCAR Nationwide Series Monster Energy Camry:

You had a strong run in the spring event, are you looking forward to going back to Charlotte?

"The first Charlotte race we finished third and that's when we knew our intermediate track program was gaining momentum. I remember finishing that race and wanting to try the next mile-and-a-half-track, knowing that our equipment was improving. Mike (Beam, crew chief) is a past winner at this track too, so he's enjoyed success there and knows what is needed to dial the car in for this race track. I look forward to going back with our newest car, to see what we can do."

Mike Beam, Crew Chief of the No. 54 NASCAR Nationwide Series Monster Energy Camry:

You had a good run with Kyle in the first Charlotte event this year, what will you do differently this week to give your team owner-driver what he needs for a victory?

"We finished third here in the May race, but this time we are taking chassis #011, our newest car, that has run well in its first two outings. We know we need to win and after having a week off to regroup, I feel we are ready and prepared. As I say each week, if we limit our mistakes and manage our practices, we should be able to contend for the win. It is getting close to the end of the season and everyone on this team wants to be able to get a couple of victories with Kyle because we know he will be driving his heart out to win."

Kyle Busch's No. 54 Monster Energy Camry:

Chassis KBM-011: KBM will unload car #011, raced as a new chassis at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway with Kyle Busch, who earned the team their first pole position of 2012 and finished in the seventh position. The Camry had its second start of the year at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, with Kurt Busch, who started 14th and was running in the top five, then experienced a locked rear gear, ending the day early with a 28th -place finish. The backup machine is Chassis KBM-007, regularly traveled as a second team car.
