THE 1,000TH NASCAR NATIONWIDE SERIES RACE, AND YOU ARE IN VICTORY LANE. “Hey, I forgot about that. It is always an honor to win a race, but to win a race that is such a distinguishing mark in the series is just another honor to go with that. I am very proud of everyone on the Hertz Ford Mustang team. Man, I think that is five wins this year for me and I think this car has eight or nine. It has a great season going and I am having a lot of fun with this team that is for sure.”

WE JUST TALKED TO BRIAN SCOTT WHO HAD THE DOMINANT CAR FOR MOST OF THE RACE. HE SAID THERE WAS A QUESTIONABLE RESTART INVOLVING YOU. DESCRIBE YOUR SIDE OF THAT. “Well, first off, Brian Scott did a tremendous job today. He has a lot to be proud of. If he keeps running like he is, he will win races. I think I just caught him off guard. The restart box is a zone and we went right at the start of it and didn’t give him a second to catch up. That probably wasn’t the key to the victory but it sure didn’t hurt.”

YOU GUYS HAD A PIT STOP ISSUE, COMING OUT 16TH, HOW HARD WAS THAT TO OVERCOME? “It was frustrating but racing is no different than life. It is about overcoming adversity and we were able to do that today and came away with the victory.”

Trevor Bayne, No. 6 RFR Driven Ford Mustang (Finished 5th):

YOU WERE COMING HARD THERE AT THE END AND END UP WITH A TOP-FIVE FINISH. “We were flying up there all night but just couldn’t ever get past eighth before something would go wrong. We fell back to like 15th after driving up to eighth and then had a bad pitstop and fell back to 15th and then drove back up to fifth there at the end.

I can’t say enough about these guys not giving up and giving me good race cars. Honestly, that is probably one of the best race cars we have had all season. We didn’t get a chance to show up front because we never had track position. We did a good job in practice; we just need to qualify better so we don’t have to start so deep in the field. I am really proud of this team tonight.”
