Michael Annett Looks for Success at Kentucky Speedway for Second Nationwide Dash 4 Cash Race
Sparta, Ky. (June 9, 2010) -- Michael Annett and the No. 15 Pilot Travel Centers team will return to Kentucky Speedway this weekend after recording a seventh place finish in the Bluegrass State in 2009's NASCAR Nationwide Series Meijer 300. Annett qualified fourth for the 200 lap race, and his seventh place finish was one of four top-10s earned by the rookie driver in 2009.
Annett's stats at Kentucky Speedway prove his knack for the track. In three races run on the 1.5 mile D-shaped oval, Annett has started in the top-five twice and finished in the top-10 all three times. In his first experience at Kentucky, the two time ARCA Racing Series winner started fourth, finished ninth and led 31 laps of the ARCA Racing Series Drive Smart! Buckle Up Kentucky 150. In his Truck Series debut at Kentucky Speedway, Annett scored a second place finish, his career best in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
"I'm excited to get back to Kentucky. We really enjoy racing there, so we've been looking forward to this race all year long," said Annett. "We had a really strong run there last year, and we hope to repeat that success in this weekend's Meijer 300."
Historical success at Kentucky Speedway gives the No. 15 Pilot Travel Centers team confidence for another winning performance this weekend.
"Kentucky Speedway is by far one of the most exciting and fun race tracks on the Nationwide Series circuit. They always draw a large crowd and the fans there are great," said crew chief Ryan Fugle. "Our Nationwide Series program has had great success there. Our proven track record includes Michael's seventh place finish there last year and our third place finish there in 2008. We're heading there this year ready to compete for the win."
