BEST FINISH OF SEASON - Colin Braun and the No. 16 team put together the rookie's best race of the season last weekend at Gateway International Raceway. Braun qualified a season high second, missing the pole by just five-hundreths of a second, and ran in the top-10 for the majority of the race. Even after sustaining damage on a last lap incident, Braun took the checkers in the seventh spot for his highest finish to date. Braun has now recorded three top-10s and five top-12s in his last six starts.
BRAUN IMPRESSIVE AT ORP - Braun will be making his second Nationwide Series start at O'Reilly Raceway Park this weekend. In his first start last season driving the No. 16, Braun finished second after starting from the pole. In two previous Truck Series starts, Braun owns one pole and a top-five finish.
No. 16 TEAM HOSTS AAA STUDENT AUTO SKILLS WINNERS - This week and through the race weekend, the No. 16 team will host the two AAA Student Auto Skills Challenge winners who will job shadow team members in the shop and at the track. McKenzie Nordland and Jonathan Anderson, both from North Dakota, were named the top auto skills workers in the country and given the opportunity to join the team at the track this weekend.
ROUSH FENWAY RACING AT ORP - In 18 Nationwide Series starts, Roush Fenway Racing has captured two wins, nine top-fives, 13 top-10s, two pole awards and 352 laps led. The two wins were tallied by Greg Biffle and Carl Edwards.
HEADING HOME - This weekend's race at ORP is a homecoming for No. 16 car chief Ryan McKinney. McKinney hails from Anderson, Ind., located about an hour from the race track.
GATEWAY CHASSIS SELECTION - Crew chief Rick Viers has selected RK-461 for this weekend's Kroger 200 at O'Reilly Raceway Park. The last time this car saw action was at Richmond International Raceway with Matt Kenseth behind the wheel. After starting eighth, Kenseth finished 10th.
Braun, on his improvement and getting on track at ORP:
"ORP is a really good track for me and I'm excited to get back there and get this Con-way Freight Ford on track. Not only do we have the truck experience to lean on, but I had that great race last year in the Nationwide Series as well. We have been able to continually get better week in and week out, which is really all you can ask for. Rick has done a great job leading these guys and helping me to develop as a driver. I think we are getting closer and closer to a win and I'd love to do it this weekend at ORP."
Crew chief Rick Viers, on heading to ORP:
"Going to ORP is always great- it's a fun place to race. With the success Colin has had there in the past and after the great race we had in Gateway, we feel this team is very close to winning its first race with Colin. We have just been able to build on the good things each week and I think that shows in our performance."
