Michael Annett Heads to West Coast for Pre-Race Visit to Toyota Headquarters before Competing at Auto Club Speedway
Fontana, CA. (February 16, 2010) -- Nationwide Series driver Michael Annett is enthusiastic about returning to "The Golden State" in his No. 15 Pilot Travel Centers Toyota Camry for Saturday's Stater Bros. 300 at Auto Club Speedway. After earning a top-10 finish there in October's Nationwide Series race, Annett aims for another good finish this weekend. His sixth place finish at Auto Club Speedway in October 2009 scored him awards for Raybestos Rookie of the Race, Mobil 1 Performance Driver of the Race and Featherlite Most Improved Driver of the Race.
"We're really excited to get back to an intermediate race track. Fontana is a great race track for Germain Racing and for Michael. We had great success there last year with his two solid finishes. With Toyota's headquarters here in California, we're looking to get a win in right in their backyard," said crew chief Ryan Fugle.
"We had a great run in California last season, so of course we are looking for a good run there again this week," said Annett. "Coming off of a 12th place finish at Daytona, we've got the momentum we need heading into Saturday's race at Auto Club Speedway. We're looking forward to getting the No. 15 Pilot Travel Centers Toyota Camry back out on the track and getting another respectable finish at California."
Leading into the race weekend at Auto Club Speedway, Annett will join his fellow Toyota Sprint Cup Series and Nationwide Series competitors for Toyota's Annual Toyota Motorsports Day at the manufacturer's headquarters in Torrance, California. This will be Annett's second time attending the event which allows Toyota employees to meet and greet with Toyota's fleet of NASCAR drivers.
"It feels great to give back to those who make it possible for us to go to the track each week. Toyota has a strong presence in all three of the NASCAR garages and has brought a lot to our sport and the Germain Racing organization," said Annett.
In addition to driving a Toyota in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, Annett has also piloted a Toyota in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards. The young driver was the first to take Toyota to victory lane in the ARCA Racing Series at Talladega Superspeedway in October 2007. Germain Racing has a long standing relationship with the Toyota brand, being one of the first teams to support Toyota upon their entrance into the sport.
