Bayne Set to Make Second Start for Roush Fenway at California
Trevor Bayne will make his second start for Roush Fenway this weekend at California Speedway. Bayne made his debut in a Roush Fenway Ford last weekend at Kansas, where he ran as high as third before making contact with the wall late and finishing 30th.
Bayne at California
This will be Bayne's third trip to California Speedway, where he has finished 19th and 11th in two previous starts. Bayne has completed all of the 304 laps he has attempted at California, with starts of 11 and 10.
Second Half Run
In his past 15 races this season, Bayne has complied 10 top-10 finishes, five top-fives and three poles. He captured three consecutive poles during that span, while posting two finishes of third at Gateway and Richmond.
Trevor Bayne On Auto Club (California) Speedway:
"At first I hated California the first time I went there, because we had a really rough day. That all turned around in the spring when we went back and had a solid run. It seems like you are only supposed to like a track when you are running well there, but I really enjoy the area and going to California. We had a good finish, and I learned a lot going back. We really had to work the high-line and that was one of the first times I've had to do that. Hopefully our car will come to life and we can get up high and get another top-10 result."
On returning to tracks for the second and third times:
"That had a lot to do with the reason Ididn't like it (California) at first, because I had no experience there. Now, having been there before -- two times -- that makes a huge difference. When we unload in practice I know where the car has to be good and I know how the track changes as the race goes on for adjustments and that is just a big difference. After going there a couple of times you just start to learn those things and it becomes second nature."
On joining Roush Fenway Racing:
"It's really cool to be a part of an organization that already has a history like Roush Fenway. I know that winning is part of their blood. It is something that they know how to do. "
"Hopefully we can add on those wins here soon. I know it's going to be a learning curve as we get used to the team, but I'm already feeling at home in the organizations and that's important; to have a long term commitment from someone is one thing, but to feel like you belong there is another and I have both of those right now and that's awesome."
