Friday night's Nationwide Series race marks the first time that a Dodge Challenger has competed in NASCAR competition since the early 1980s. Virginian James "Chubby" Arrington fielded Dodge race cars in the late 1970s and 1980s with several drivers, including Satch Worley, who finished 15th in Arrington's No. 29 Dodge Challenger at Daytona (February, 1983) in what is now known as the Nationwide Series.

DODGE NATIONWIDE DRIVERS:

Justin Allgaier, No. 12 Verizon Wireless Challenger

"Bringing back the pony car, especially the Dodge Challenger and the way that it looks, it has a mean and aggressive look to it. One of the biggest complaints when the Cup car came out was how big and boxy they looked. NASCAR's done a great job of going back in and trying to fix some of the things that they didn't like about the original car. The cool part for me is that I get to drive a car that the average fan can go down and buy at the dealership. Short of bolting a spoiler and fin on the back window, it is very similar to the production Challenger."

Brad Keselowski, No. 22 Discount Tire Challenger

"I'm really excited to debut the new Dodge Challenger this weekend. I think the fans are going to enjoy the character that these new cars are going to bring to the Nationwide Series. If you took the spoiler off this car, it looks just like one you can buy in any Dodge showroom in America. My dad and uncle raced Challengers back in the 70s, so this is something that really hits home for me. Those cars were some of the coolest race cars ever and I think this new Challenger is right up there with them.
