KESELOWSKI AT DAYTONA - Brad Keselowski will drive the No. 88 Navy Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS in Friday's NASCAR Nationwide Winn-Dixie 250 at Daytona International Speedway. It will be the 24-year-old driver's second Nationwide Series start at the 2.5-mile track. In the season opener at Daytona in February Keselowski qualified 13th and finished 16th. Keselowski also scored his best-ever NASCAR Truck Series finish at Daytona when he took the checkered flag in seventh place there in 2005.
NO. 88 KESELOWSKI CONNECTION - Keselowski's uncle Ron Keselowski also drove the No. 88 in NASCAR competition at Daytona International Speedway. In the early 1970s the elder Keselowski made six starts in the No. 88 at the Cup level at Daytona. OWNER AS A TEAMMATE - JR Motorsports co-owner Dale Earnhardt Jr. will also be Keselowski's teammate for Friday's race at Daytona. Earnhardt Jr. will drive the No. 5 Delphi Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS for JR Motorsports in the Winn-Dixie 250. In 14 Nationwide starts at the track Earnhardt Jr. has five wins to his credit, making him one of the best possible teammates to have going into a restrictor-plate race.
KESELOWSKI TO HELP REENLIST - On Friday Keselowski is scheduled to help reenlist sailor AE1 Christopher Williamson at the U.S. Navy's display at Daytona International Speedway at 12:30 p.m. The driver of the No. 88 Chevrolet will also sign autographs for fans at the display from Noon - 12:30 p.m.
CHASSIS NO. 222 - Keselowski and the No. 88 Navy team will run Chassis No. 222 this Friday at Daytona. Keselowski qualified fifth in this car at Talladega. He was caught up in an accident during the race and finished 23rd.
USS THE SULLIVANS - The Navy team's Fleet Honoree for Friday's race at Daytona is the USS The Sullivans (DDG-68). An Arleigh Burke Class Destroyer, The Sullivans is a multi-mission capable ship that can conduct a variety of operations. Capable of engaging air, surface, and subsurface targets simultaneously, the ship contains a myriad of offensive and defensive weapons designed to support naval warfare missions. The vessel is named after the five Sullivan brothers - George, Francis, Joseph, Madison and Albert - who were all killed in the line of duty in 1942 aboard the USS Juneau.
KESELOWSKI (on racing at Daytona) - "Daytona is a great track. The history of the place alone makes it a special track for us to race on. I've had some success there in the Truck Series before, and I'm hoping we can continue to sustain the momentum we've been building the last two months and score another solid run this week."
KESELOWSKI (on 2008 season performance thus far…) - "The Navy team is having a great season. Like I've said before, we set a list of goals for the year and we're on target to meet most of them. Everyone on the team is focused on working hard to continue running up front. We had a great stretch of finishes in May and June and we're looking forward to continuing that through the summer and into the fall because we have to keep running well if we want to make a run at the championship. Last weekend we finished 10th and lost two spots in the points. That tells you just how close the battle is, so we've got to keep working hard to run up front and get back up there to challenge [Clint] Bowyer for the lead."
