BUSCH LOOKING FOR THIRD WIN IN A ROW IN CHARLOTTE
HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (May 19, 2009) - In a NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Lowe's Motor Speedway, it's more than safe to say that Kyle Busch is a solid bet for the win; after all, he's captured four career Nationwide victories at the 1.5-mile quad-oval.
Busch carries the series point lead and his red-hot NOS Energy Drink Toyota Camry to the Greater Charlotte area this weekend in hopes of his third consecutive win at Lowe's Motor Speedway. He also happens to be gunning for the fourth-straight win for sponsor NOS, an undefeated primary sponsor that first adorned Busch's No. 18 at this track last October.
The speedy track-in the middle of NASCAR's Charlotte hub-has been a haven of sorts for Busch, who made his first career series start at this venue in 2003 (he piloted a Joe Nemechek-owned entry to a runner-up finish). In nine career starts, he's led at least one lap in seven races.
How do you feel about your chances at a Lowe's Motor Speedway three-peat?
"This JGR team has been stout all year and I've been fortunate to be the one driving their cars. There's no reason to think we can't win this weekend. Last year was fun because I was able to win both Charlotte races with two different teams (Joe Gibbs Racing and Braun Racing) and I got NOS their first NASCAR win. I'm happy their back on board this weekend so hopefully we'll have some of their product to spray in victory lane on Saturday night."
Kyle Busch has won four NASCAR Nationwide Series races at Lowe's Motor Speedway. In his first career Nationwide Series start, Busch started fifth in the May 2003 race at LMS and finished second.
Busch has scored a total of seven top-five finishes and eight top-ten finishes at LMS. In nine career Nationwide Series starts at LMS, Busch has led at least one lap in seven races. In those nine races, he has led a total of 448 laps.
