Chase Miller Ready For Charlotte "Homecoming" In No. 19 Verizon Wireless/Motorola Dodge Charger
STATESVILLE, N.C. -- Chase Miller makes his 11th NASCAR Nationwide Series start of the 2008 season and 17th of his career on Friday at Lowe's Motor Speedway near Charlotte. Miller is in his second season as a driver for Gillett Evernham Motorsports. The 21-year old Canton, Ga. native ran in the top 10 in May at the track before mechanical trouble ended his race.
Miller said race weekend in Charlotte is almost like a high school or college football "Homecoming" weekend with friends, family and crew members attending the race. Miller has extra work this weekend. Because it is only the second race for the No. 19 this season, Miller will likely need to post a fast qualifying time to start the race.
Chase Miller Quotes
Talk about racing in the Nationwide Series: "I'm excited to go back to Charlotte. We had a strong run there last time and it's the first time this year I get to race a second time at a track. You learn so much the first time that I expect to be a lot better the second visit. I'm just trying to learn all I can. But while you are learning you are also trying to do your best and show everyone you belong up here. Believe me it's tough, these are the greatest stock car drivers in the world and they aren't going to give you anything. Guys like Kasey Kahne are racing just as hard as they do in the Cup Series so if you are going to beat them or even run with them you better bring your "A" game."
Talk about racing at Charlotte: "This is a home race track for just about every team so you have a lot of crew guys and friends watching you race that don't normally get to go to the track when we are racing in the North or Midwest. Charlotte weekend is almost like a homecoming football game in high school or college. You want to win every game but some you want to win more than others. Charlotte is like that for all of us. We will gladly take a win anywhere but it would be especially good here."
Qualifying: "I'm not worried about being fast enough. What worries us is rain. But really there isn't much we can do about that either so we are just going to go out there and be as fast as we can."
