CHAD WALTER (Crew Chief, No. 12 Verizon Wireless Dodge Challenger)
"I couldn't be more proud of what Justin (Allgaier) and the Verizon Dodge team have done. I believe we're class contenders with the new car and we're really looking forward to 2011. We had a strong car all night, had some great restarts. Unfortunately, the crew chief thought there was some damage on the right side and spent a little too much time in the pits on the last deal. It might have cost us a little bit. The kid (Allgaier) drove his heart out. Man, he's solid at these mile-and-half tracks. I'm real happy with what's happened here in the last 72 hours, to get a third is awesome."
JUSTIN ALLGAIER (No. 12 Verizon Wireless Dodge Challenger) Finished 3rd
"The Penske Dodge Challenger was awesome. These Verizon guys do a great job week in and week out. We don't always get the results, but tonight they worked their tails off and we got a good finish. I'll tell you, 72 hours ago, there was no way we were not going to have a good weekend. I hope the fans in the grandstands enjoyed it because it was a fun race.
"When we showed up Wednesday, we did not have a race car capable of even running in the top 20. All these guys worked together as a group. I just thank God for giving me the ability to do this. It's been tough with everything about what is going to happen next year, to be able to come out and run as well as we have been is awesome. I know I keep saying it, but the Penske engines are awesome. It's an honor to get behind the wheel and run as well as we did tonight.
"We didn't quite get the qualifying effort that we wanted, but from 72 hours ago, we've come a long way. We weren't perfect at the start, so we needed some adjustments. I don't know if we had anything for the 22 and 00. They were really, really good.
"I'm looking forward to what the next couple of weeks hold. We're going home to Gateway next week. Trying to stay where we're at in points is definitely important to me."
"When we unloaded Wednesday, I think, collectively as a group, all of us at Penske Racing were a little bit nervous because we weren't sure if we had a top-20 car or a top-30 car. We didn't feel like we were very strong at all. We made a lot of changes between the three crew chiefs and engineers. They really got to work on the new Challenger and got it where it was really comfortable to drive. We proved that in the race tonight. Unfortunately, we didn't always have the track position we needed and got shuffled back on one of the restarts. That really set us back. I don't think we had anything for the 22 and 00 at the end.
"This race car is an awesome piece. To be able to go out there and run two, sometimes three wide and really race the way we did is great. The draft was really important tonight. I'm really glad we're going to have this car all next year. The new Challenger is a lot of fun to drive."
YOU'RE THE ONLY NATIONWIDE REGULAR IN THE TOP 10 AND TO WIN IN THE SERIES. WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO DO TO FIND A RIDE NEXT YEAR? "Honestly, I don't have a good answer for that, because I think I've exhausted most of my options to secure something. We probably got started in this process too late. I think there were probably some openings, but with sponsors and everybody trying to make sure they've got everything set for next year, I think our news broke just a little bit too late. It's frustrating, but at the end of the day, I feel like I've done everything Penske Racing has asked me to do. The old saying is, you bring me a driver that can race well, is good with sponsors and has had a big sponsor and we've got a ride for them. Unfortunately, that hasn't held true. Tonight is the kind of nights we need for the rest of the season. If we keep doing this, hopefully, it will attract not only sponsors but race teams that want to put me in their equipment. If that's the case, I think we have a lot to bring to the table."
