KLUEVER CONTINUES TO LEARN AT RICHMOND
CONCORD, N.C. -- Todd Kluever and the No. 06 3M team spent Tuesday at Richmond International Raceway preparing for the upcoming Circuit City 250 in May. Kluever has one prior start at Richmond in the Craftsman Truck Series, so track time in his Busch car was beneficial.
"We spent the day testing the same car we raced at California and Vegas," Kluever said. "I'm not certain if that will be the car we bring back for the race in May, but we had the opportunity to try a lot of different things. We lost a few hours at the end of the test due to rain, but I feel good about some of the things we worked on during the day.
"We weren't the fastest car there, but one of the things we've been working on is keeping up with the track changes throughout the day. That has been one of our biggest struggles during the races. Our Fusion starts out pretty good, but it ends up terribly tight by the end of the race. As a team we have to figure out how to keep up with the track to make sure our car is still fast at the end."
Kluever also had the benefit of testing with his Roush Racing teammates Greg Biffle, Matt Kenseth, Carl Edwards and Danny O'Quinn. Biffle and Edwards both posted some of the fastest laps throughout the day.
"It's a huge benefit to have teammates you can go to for help," Kluever said. "Mark Martin has been great to me and I've talked to him a lot. I also see Carl at the shop quite a bit and ask him questions. I know I can go to any of them and they are all willing to share their knowledge with me and my crew chief. It's nice to be in an environment where everybody works together."
Roush Racing is a subsidiary of Livonia, Mich., based Roush Entersprises that operates 13 motorsports teams; five in NASCAR NEXTEL Cup with drivers Mark Martin, Matt Kenseth, Jamie McMurray, Greg Biffle and Carl Edwards, six in the Busch Series with Martin, Kenseth, Biffle, Edwards, Todd Kluever and Danny O'Quinn, Jr., and two in the Craftsman Truck Series with Martin, David Ragan and Erik Darnell.
