All too often we get caught up in our own little battles in life, sometimes we forget what really matters. I'm convinced that most of these battles are work related and many of the problematic troubles at home carry over from our working stress.
All too often we get caught up in our own little battles in life, sometimes we forget what really matters. I'm convinced that most of these battles are work related and many of the problematic troubles at home carry over from our working stress. On this day I sit feeling very sad for my friend Kyle Petty and for his family. I can't even fathom the loss of a son.
These tragedies will happen in professional auto racing. However, it seems like lately it's been happening way too often. In just a short time we have lost Billy Vukovich, Scott Brayton, Greg Moore, Gonzalo Rodriguez, John Nemechek, Davey Allison, Alan Kulwicki, Rob Moroso and now a legendary and young Adam Petty.
We all talk about the future of a bright star and what might have been. The key is to recognize what these auto racers do for a living. It's not fun a games out there. This is the real McCoy. These guys play for keeps. Many people have questioned over the years as to whether race car drivers are athletes or not. My notable comments have always been..."If any one of these racing professionals miscalculates, it could be a serious tragedy, it's not like they turn and ankle or pull a hamstring."
I know that everyday, I take quite a number of things for granted. This is yet another sobbering reminder of why each and every day is a day to tell those around you how important they are to you. The tendency is to always wait.......don't wait.
On this day, I will take a few moments to feel for my friend Kyle Petty and his family. I am so sorry for their loss.
