"It's starting to cool off and the cars are picking up a little bit. Our Charter Taurus, that was a really good lap for us. The track has a ton of grip right now, and I was telling the guys I hate to say but I think we might get beat because there are a couple of fast cars coming. It's got a lot of grip. We'll wait and see what happens. In the worst-case scenario, we have a top-five starting spot, which is going to be great for the Charter car. The guys have done a great job this week and I look forward to the race."

DID THE LUCK OF THE DRAW PLAY INTO QUALIFYING TODAY? "It did. Of course, we had to wait a while, and you can feel the temperature dropping. The track is shaded about all of the way down the frontstretch and halfway around one and two, so a lot of shade and that's going to help. We'll see what happens."

WHAT WOULD A WIN HERE ON SATURDAY DO FOR THIS TEAM? "It'd be exiting. We won a couple of weeks ago in the Charter car. The guys are working really hard and Charter has been really good to us. They're really excited about their program and I'm excited to bring a new sponsor into NASCAR like that. We've got a new body going on this Ford Taurus, and it's running real good for us. We weren't as happy we wanted to be at the start of practice, but it's getting better, so we'll see. It would be big to win on Saturday and even bigger to win on Sunday."

WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGING PARTS OF THIS TRACK? "We have trouble getting down into the corners. Our car from the straightaway transitioning into the corner, that's where we struggle a little bit. We see cars stronger than us, and that's kind of our weak point. Across the middle of the corner and exiting, we're pretty good and that's where cars struggle. If we can ever get that to turn around a little bit, I think we're going to be really good."

YOU WERE ABLE TO TEST HERE A FEW WEEKS AGO. IS THERE A SECOND GROOVE DEVELOPING? "I really don't know. I don't know what to expect as far as that goes. I know I look forward to seeing where Brendan Gaughan runs because he always runs the top here. I'm anxious to see how it works. I've kinda been up there. My car was a little tight and I got up there a little bit and there seems to be a fair amount of grip, so we'll see guys in the race moving up the race track a little bit."
