The South Carolina Dept. of Education, in conjunction with SCANA Corp. and RaceWay Marketing, is implementing a pilot program in three school districts around the state (Darlington Co., Jasper Co., and Saluda Co.). The program features a curriculum enhancement program entitled Rev It Up!, that brings racing into the classroom and uses a motorsports-related theme to teach elementary and middle schools students about math, science and geography. NASCAR Busch Series driver and South Carolina native Lyndon Amick, will unveil a new paint scheme featuring the Rev It Up! theme that he will carry on his race car at this weekend's Busch Series race at the Darlington Speedway.
Bennish Brown, of SCANA Public Affairs, will explain his companies' involvement in the pilot program. SCANA Corporation is funding the pilot program in the three school districts, and is one of the primary sponsors of Team Amick Motorsports in the NASCAR Busch Series. Lyndon Amick, from Team Amick Motorsports, will detail his involvement with education in South Carolina, and will unveil his special "Rev It Up!" paint scheme. Dr. Ray and Amick will introduce a "Top Performer," a South Carolina student whose name will be unveiled on the side of Amicks' car transporter at the press conference.
