Buckshot Racing and the No. 00 Cheez-It Pontiac are looking to become the first Pontiac ever to win a Busch Series event at Talladega. In his last two trips to Talladega Jones has finished 4th and 38th.
Jones and his Buckshot Racing team have high hopes for this weekend's Touchstone 300 at Talladega and are looking for a solid run to pull them out of the doldrums. In this year's only other superpseedway race, Jones finished 8th at Daytona after starting 4th and leading 27 laps.
Buckshot Jones will sign autographs during the 15th Annual Race Fever Night at the International Motorsports Hall of Fame on Friday, April 14, from 6:30-7:15 p.m. Proceeds raised from 'Race Fever Night' will go towards the Alabama Institute for the Deaf & Blind.
"The restrictor plate tracks can be a little bit aggravating at times. You can have an awesome car and get hung up with the wrong pack of cars in the draft and go nowhere. I'd love to race at one of the superspeedways without restrictor plates. Look at the Craftsman Truck race in Daytona this year. It was by far the best race of the weekend with tons of passing all race long."
"The new shock rules introduced for Daytona and Talladega have really helped us out. The new spring and shock package allows us to really work on fine tuning our car, rather than messing around with different spring and shock combinations. It also has taken away the rough ride we were used to at Daytona and Talladega. Now our cars drive like a Cadillac." --Buckshot Jones, driver of the No. 00 Cheez-It Pontiac.
