Team Yellow Mom looks for Best Mother's Day gift of all: A checkered flag!

LYNN HAVEN, FL (April 29, 2003) -- While there may be a lot of families visiting with their mother's this weekend, very few of those mothers will be giving their children advice on what line to drive, or when to let off the throttle.

Cindy Stremme, mother of Yellow Racing driver David Stremme, will be doing that and more to help her son and Team Yellow take home the checkered flag at this weekend's Charter Pipeline 250 at Gateway Raceway in Madison, Ill. And Mrs. Stremme couldn't think of a better way to celebrate the Mother's Day weekend than with a victory by Team Yellow.

Why is Cindy Stremme so passionate about her son's job? Because Cindy is a rarity among racing moms -- she actually races. In fact, at the beginning of his career, David used to race against his mother.

"There were quite a few races in David's rookie year when it would boil down to me running in first and David running in second when a caution would come out with one lap to go. This meant we would have to finish the race in a green, white, checker," she said. "I would just look at him and point to my head, in essence telling him to use his head. Later on when we got home, I would tell him to remember the cars come home to the same household and the money comes from the same household. But in the end we are both there to race, and whoever wins, wins."

The entire Stremme family enjoys racing, dad, mom, and both brothers. Even though they may compete against each other, working together makes them more successful, proving the Team Yellow motto "Teamwork Wins!"

"When I decided to go back to work, I found the perfect job as a school bus driver," Mrs. Stremme said. "It allows me time off in the middle of the day to run errands. I don't need an office job. After all, how could I pick up car parts if I was in an office? I have even had race car parts delivered to the school bus mechanics shop that I would pick up after work. It's a great job and it allows me to continue doing what I need to do to race."

Tune in this Saturday to the Charter Pipeline 250 at Gateway Raceway. The race will be aired live on FX at 2:30 p.m. ET and broadcast live on MRN beginning at 3:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, May 10, 2003. Yellow will be the associate sponsor of the #1 Dodge. Qualifying for the event will take place Friday, May 9 at 5:35 p.m. ET and will be aired on Speedchannel.
