RWI RACING SELECTS BRYANT FRAZIER AS CREW CHIEF
--FORMER BUSCH SERIES CHAMPION TO LEAD MCMURRAY AND WALLACE--
MOORESVILLE, NC (November 1, 2005)--Officials of RWI Racing, LLC announced today that veteran mechanic Bryant Frazier, has been hired as the team's crew chief, effective immediately. Frazier replaces interim crew chief Steve Darne, who will stay with the team in his previous role as car chief. Darne was named interim crew chief midway through the 2005 season, following the release of the team's previous crew chief, Blake Bainbridge.
Frazier, an Alabama native, is no stranger to success in NASCAR. He began his career with driver Steve Grissom, winning championships in both the NASCAR Busch Series and the NASCAR All-Pro Series. Frazier has also overseen the Busch Series efforts of drivers Tony Stewart and Bobby Labonte. He served as a NASCAR NEXTEL Cup crew chief with Petty Enterprises and most recently worked with Labonte-Haas Racing and driver Justin Labonte.
"We're very pleased to have a crew chief of Bryant's caliber on board with us. He has a lot of veteran experience and definitely has proven his leadership ability in the garage," said RWI Racing team owner, Rusty Wallace. "We have a young and talented team; hopefully the veteran experience that Bryant brings will be what we need to put our Dodges in victory lane. Steve Darne was put in a tough situation and did a great job for us this season. He's a great asset to our organization and we look forward to continuing to have him on our team."
"I'm really excited to be able to work with a team of this caliber," noted RWI Racing crew chief, Bryant Frazier. "Rusty is a legend in NASCAR and I can't thank him enough for this opportunity; to be able to work with a person of such stature in this sport is a dream for any crew chief. I'm really looking forward to getting in there and working with this team. They have two young, but very talented, drivers in Jamie McMurray and Stephen Wallace. I'm very excited about working with both of them."
