TALK ABOUT YOUR QUALIFYING RUN.

"I can tell you, it was a pretty good lap for us. I was a little overanxious. I pinned Turn 1 and 2 really good down there, and I had Jeff (Green) beat by quite a bite. I don't know that, but it was a good corner. Three and 4, I probably overdrove a little bit and got after the gas. I've been having troubles with my car staying tight around the corner down there and had to get out of the throttle and get back in it, and it cost me a bunch of time. I'm really happy to be third in the Grainger Ford. I'm excited because the last time I was here as a rookie and qualified on the pole and ran third. Then last year in the fall race, I ran terrible and got a lap down. Hopefully this will start us over again and have another good run like the spring race last year. I feel bad for Shane Hmiel. I've been in that same situation as a rookie and crashed. In fact, I qualified fourth at Bristol last year and crashed on my second qualifying lap. I've been in that same situation where I didn't turn my radio on and didn't know how good I was on my first lap and thought I better pick it up. I can feel for him being a rookie here. He's definitely learned the hard way how to start and it will be a long day coming from the back. I think we'll be good starting up front behind Jeff. Jeff looked good in practice this morning, so we'll see how it goes."

HOW IMPORTANT IS IT TO HAVE A GOOD RUN THIS WEEK, BASED OFF OF YOUR DAYTONA PERFORMANCE?

"It's important for us. It was unfortunate; we got wrecked last week. We had a really good car. It was the first time that I think that Roush has had a solid speedway program that ran up front in the Busch Series. We felt pretty good about that, and still don't quite know what happened at the end of the race. We got wrecked out. We just look forward to this week and keeping our nose clean. I was really striving for a top-five finish last week; I wasn't going to try to win that race. This week might be a little bit different if we have a better car, but I'm thinking of points racing and getting a good, solid finish. I feel that we can finish in the top five pretty easy."

WHO DO YOU SEE AS YOUR TOP COMPETITION HERE?

"Definitely Jeff looked good in practice. You can't count Matt Kenseth out and Kenny Wallace has run good here, and Jason Keller certainly is good. Those guys are the guys to watch it looks like. It's tough for a rookie to run good here, so I don't think that some of the first-time drivers, unless they've tested a bunch, this race track is really difficult to pace yourself on. I've had that trouble. My first race, I paced myself great. My second race, I thought I knew everything there is about Rockingham and there I was a lap down. Hopefully I will be patient this race and watch and learn a little bit more and be there at the end."
