CITIFINANCIAL AND ROBERT YATES RACING ANNOUNCE CHANGES TO THEIR 2006 NASCAR BUSCH SERIES DRIVER LINEUP
MOORESVILLE, NC (May 12, 2006) - CitiFinancial and Robert Yates Racing announced today a committed approach to accelerate their driver development program. Effective immediately, Stephen Leicht and Matt McCall are going to assume increased driving duties for the No. 90 CitiFinancial Ford Fusion and will be sharing the seat for the remainder of the 2006 NASCAR Busch Series races. Elliott Sadler will continue to fulfill his role as Leicht's and McCall's mentor throughout the remainder of the season. Sadler will continue endorsing the CitiFinancial brand and carry the CitiFinancial associate sponsorship on his No. 38 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series car.
"CitiFinancial feels that this is a very solid opportunity for our development drivers, who have proven to have promising careers in the NASCAR circuit, to get behind the wheel on a consistent basis and learn as much as they can," said Mike Jones, Vice President of Marketing for CitiFinancial. "We are committed to our driver development partnership with Robert Yates Racing and look forward to a successful season, on and off the track."
"For the remainder of 2006, we are committed to getting Matt McCall, Stephen Leicht and Justin Diercks as much track time as possible utilizing test sessions and CitiFinancial Busch Series races," said Eddie D'Hondt, general manager for Robert Yates Racing. "There will also be events that we will bring two CitiFinancial Busch cars, allowing two of our drivers to compete in the same event."
Leicht will be behind the wheel of the No.90 CitiFinancial Ford this weekend for the NASCAR Busch Series Diamond Hill Plywood 200, while his teammate McCall will be competing in the ARCA RE/MAX Series event Saturday at Kentucky Speedway.
