WHAT HAPPENED? "I got up under the 27 car there. Right at the beginning of the race it's kind of slick out there and I was trying be a little bit patient and just got turned around there. I thought I had it saved, and unfortunately I had my wheels turned to the right a little too much and got into the fence. It's been a tough couple of months for us, but we'll just keep digging."
STACY COMPTON-59-Kingsford/Bush's Beans Ford Taurus (Finished 32nd)
WHAT PUT YOU BEHIND THE WALL? "We blew up another motor. It's awful disappointing for the Kingsford/Bush's Beans Ford. We had a good qualifying run and the car was pretty good. We started having motor problems early in the day and it just didn't last. We've had some motor problems this year between myself and Robert and the 25 car, all three. Yates motors usually don't give problems, but it looks like we've had our share this year. It's disappointing for us and disappointing for them."
MARK MARTIN-9-Pennzoil Ford Taurus (Finished 12th)
"We weren't very good tonight. We tried to get up front using pit strategy and it didn't end up working."
GREG BIFFLE-60-Charter/CNN Headline News Ford Taurus (Finished 11th)
"Track position was really, really key tonight, more so than I've ever seen it at Richmond. But, that's the way it goes, it's racing."
DO YOU EXPECT THE SAME TOMORROW? "Yeah. The groove will get wider with 400 laps in the Cup race. It moved up as the night went on and you can race side-by-side in the corner now. We had to do that to get back up to where we finished."
ROBERT PRESSLEY-47-Clorox/Wisk Ford Taurus (Finished 17th)
"The groove was a lot narrower than it was in the spring. Everybody had a pretty even race car and it was all about track position. The 38 and the 5 cars were the dominant cars and they got back in the traffic and they just became another race car. This tire has thrown everybody off a little bit and it's got everybody pretty equal."
DID YOU SEE THIS TREND YESTERDAY? "I saw it happening last night in the truck race and then really saw it today in Cup practice. Everybody, depending on where they were."
DID THE RACING GROOVE GET WIDER AS THE RACE PROGRESSED? "No, the groove stayed about the same. If you got up high, somebody was going to pass you unless you were back there with that same type of car."
MIKE WALLACE-4-GEICO/SportClips Ford Taurus (Finished 19th)
YOU HAD AN INCIDENT WITH A LAPPED CAR PRIOR TO A RESTART. WHAT HAPPENED? "I got real lucky. I guess you blame that on myself or whatever. I was just warming the tires up. I thought the lap cars had already come by, and Michael (Waltrip) was coming. I tore up the car pretty good, and unfortunately for the 25 car and fortunately for us, he got turned around in three and caution came out. I was able to at least get the fender off the tire. It just didn't run good all night long. We were just kind of there. I guess if you're going to be there and beat around, a 19th-place finish, we're not happy with it but considering I wrecked the car under caution, it's not bad."
