SCOTT RIGGS -10-Nestle Nesquik Ford Taurus (Finished 2nd)
IT WAS A GOOD NIGHT, BUT WOULD IT HAVE BEEN A BETTER NIGHT WITHOUT THAT LAST CAUTION?
"I think so, but there were still a lot of chances out there, a lot of moments that we could have gotten in trouble and gotten our car torn up. All of the guys on the Nesquik Ford worked awful hard to bring this brand-new race car here to Richmond. We worked hard to have a good qualifying setup and a good race setup and keep that track position. We were able to keep that track position and we were able to keep that track position all night. You can't take anything away from the guy that won. Kevin put his car in the right position to win this race and that's what he did. You can't sit back and judge and give ifs, ands, or buts. There were a lot of times that we could have taken our car out and not finished second so we have to be happy with what we did."
DID THE NUMBER OF CAUTION FLAGS TONIGHT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE TRACK CONDITIONS?
"I think that the track definitely got pretty slick tonight, but we had a pretty good race car. I think that anytime a track gets slick, whatever problem you have it just intensifies it. Last night it was just a water seepage problem. Everybody knew that after qualifying that they vexed it and I don't think that anybody had that in their mind tonight during the race."
WHAT WERE YOU THINKING WHEN YOU GOT TO HARVICK'S BUMPER, AND WHAT DOES THIS DO FOR THE TEAM'S MOMENTUM?
"When I got to his bumper I was just trying to get it out of my windshield and put it in my rearview mirror. We were trying to make the pass, and, of course, the caution came out when I felt like I had a good run on him. Like I said before, we can't take anything away from Kevin. Those guys did a great job on the 21 car and so did my guys on the Nesquik Ford Taurus. They worked awful hard. We brought a brand-new car to Richmond and we'll take this momentum and go on to St. Louis."
DO YOU THINK NASCAR SHOULD HAVE A GREEN-WHITE-CHECKERED FINISH FOR THE BUSCH SERIES?
"If I was leading, if I was in Kevin's shoes, I would say, 'no' but if you're in the second-place shoes you'd say, 'yes.' You ask questions like that and it really just depends on what position you're in and how the circumstances affect you that night. We all know what the rules are when we started and I don't think anybody wants anybody to change the rules during the race or change them next week because of the race. If they had green-white-checkered it might have been a different outcome, but at the same token we could have been leading and I we would have been mad if they changed the rule and made it a green-white-checkered finish. Whatever the rules are, we all the know what they are before we get here."
