Leffler Ready for Double Duty This Weekend in Phoenix
Jason Leffler will be pulling double-duty this weekend at Phoenix International Raceway, running both the NASCAR Series Busch race on Saturday in the No. 38 Great Clips Chevrolet and the Nextel Cup Series race on Sunday in the No. 71 Fort McDowell Resort Destination Chevrolet. Leffler's last Nextel Cup start was in last season's Allstate 400 at The Brickyard.
*8 CAREER STARTS AT PHOENIX - Leffler has a total of eight career starts at Phoenix International Raceway, four (4) in the NASCAR Busch Series, three (3) in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series and three (1) in the Craftsman Truck Series.
*LEFFLER SHOWS MUSCLE AT PHOENIX -- NBS Highlights
In four NBS starts at the one-mile track, Leffler has two poles (2000 and 2006), a 2nd place finish (2000), a 7th place finish (2005) and an 11th place finish (2003). In this season's spring race at PIR, Leffler was a dominating force, leading for 78 laps before being taken out of contention for the win by another competitor.
LEFFLER ON PHOENIX INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY
"We had a tremendous run at Phoenix in the spring so we're obviously going there this time around with a goal of repeating that performance, though with a different outcome," said Leffler. "For the Busch race we're taking the same car that we have run at a majority of the flat, mile tracks this season with extremely good results. In all, we've won two poles and led 180 laps with this car, so the Great Clips team feels pretty good in coming back with the same equipment. Certainly the extra practice time we'll get from running on the Cup side is going to be an added advantage for us and will hopefully give us that more of a competitive edge for Saturday's race."
Jason Leffler and Ron Hornaday will be in the spotlight on Thursday, November 9th at the second annual Going Full Throttle Poker Challenge at Fort McDowell Casino, just outside of Scottsdale, AZ. The Going Full Throttle Poker Challenge charity event will benefit the Victory Junction Gang, a year-round facility that provides camp sessions to children ages seven to fifteen suffering from chronic and life-threatening illnesses. The tournament will have a guaranteed minimum prize pool of $30,000. More information regarding the tournament structure can be found by visiting www.fortmcdowellcasino.com.
