"Our Charter car was really good. The guys did a good job in the pits. We suffered a little bit on that last pit stop, we lost three spots and it put us back to sixth or seventh, and we had to fight back to get our spots back. We just got tight there. We were a solid third-place car there and we just didn't have anything for the 5 or 41. Unfortunately we come home fifth, but we probably should have been third here; I'm pretty happy with that. We just weren't as good there at the end. We were a little bit tight and I hadn't run around cars all day so I was a little aero-tight behind the 55 and couldn't get by him. The 8 must have made adjustments and came on a little bit there at the end and got us. It's about what I expected to be."
WITH THE SUN BEING OUT TODAY COMPARED TO YESTERDAY'S CLOUDY CONDITIONS, DID YOU GET A GOOD IDEA OF HOW THE TRACK CONDITIONS CAN CHANGE? "I knew it was going to get slick when the sun came out, but it didn't seem to hurt us as bad as I thought it would have."
WITH TWO RACES REMAINING IN THE SEASON, DO YOU FEEL YOU'RE RACING FOR THIRD IN THE POINT STANDINGS? "I think you can count me out. We had too many engine failures throughout the season and you just can't recover from all of that. We'll be happy with third."
MIKE MCLAUGHLIN-25-Team Marines Ford Taurus (Finished 36th)
WHAT PUT YOU BEHIND THE WALL EARLY IN THE RACE? "We were fighting a little bit tight and I just got into the wall coming off of four and I cut a tire going down into one. I was coming through the gears just trying to get it whoaed down and keep it off the fence and knocked the tranny out of it. I just can't seem to put anything together right now. I just hate it for the whole Marine Corps. They've supported me to put me in here and I haven't been able to get it done for them here lately."
MATT KENSETH-17-Waste Management Ford Taurus (Finished 8th)
IT APPEARED THAT THE RACE WAS FOR THIRD TODAY. "They pretty much had everybody covered. We were really never that great. Our car was real fast at the beginning of the race. The first run we made, the first 20 laps, I thought we were really going to be contender. It's just how it was all day. It would run good for 20 laps and then it would just fade real fast."
WAS TIRE WEAR AN ISSUE? "The tires would drop off a lot, but I just couldn't make it work. I would just wear out the front tires too much."
MARK MARTIN-9-Pennzoil Ford Taurus (Finished 6th)
YOU PICKED UP A FEW SPOTS ON THE FINAL RESTART. "We just got a good run there. My car actually restarted real well, which is something different for a change for my cars. It restarted real well and I just got good runs on guys; I'd pass a car on just about every restart. It was a pretty good little race car, but not quite enough. It was pretty strong there at the end and I could have passed another one or two if I had just a little more time. The guys did a great job on the Pennzoil car. That's it for the year, but I look forward to next year."
WITH THE SUN BEING OUT TODAY COMPARED TO YESTERDAY'S CLOUDY CONDITIONS, DID YOU GET A GOOD IDEA OF HOW THE TRACK CONDITIONS CAN CHANGE? "I don't know. My Busch car actually ran good today and my Cup car is not so good. We have to put our heads together tonight."
JASON KELLER-22-First Horizon Home Loans Ford Taurus (Finished 29th)
YOU TOOK THE GAMBLE TO SHORT PIT TOWARD THE END OF THE RACE AND AN UNTIMELY CAUTION FLAG BIT YOU. "It bit us big. Unfortunately it went green a lot longer than we had hoped. When you take a gamble sometimes you lose and that's what happens. I'm a little surprised we deduced to do it, but that's the way it goes."
STACY COMPTON-59-Kingsford/Bush's Beans Ford Taurus (Finished 23rd)
YOU WERE INVOLVED IN THE FINAL CAUTION PERIOD. WHAT DID YOU SEE? "I couldn't really tell. We got off into the corner and I saw the 32 get sideways, and I saw the bottom of somebody's car up on top of me. We had a 10th-place car and we didn't finish that way."
ARE YOU SURPRISED THAT TRACK POSITION WAS SO IMPORTANT TODAY? "This place has just lost grip. Everywhere we go now with these tires, track position is very important and we didn't have it today and we got caught in something we shouldn't have today."
ROBERT PRESSLEY-47-Clorox/Wisk Ford Taurus (Finished 17th)
"All weekend we fought and fought and just couldn't make anything happen. We were just lucky to get what we did and it was a good points day. We'll go on to Darlington, and we're looking forward to it because we had a good test there."
HAS THIS TRACK LOST SOME OF ITS GRIP OR IS IT A RESULT OF THE TIRE COMPOUND? "This track has lost a lot of grip, but everybody is on the same race track. The thing is we're not adapting to it as fast as the other ones are."
