STAR MOTORSPORTS AND JORGE GOETERS LAUNCH 2007 RACING SEASON IN MEXICO CITY
Charlotte, NC (February 27, 2007) The 2007 racing season for STAR Motorsports and Jorge Goeters starts this weekend at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City.
"The '07 race season is very exciting times for STAR," explains Sean Holley, President/CEO of STAR. "And we can't think of a better way to launch than with Jorge in Mexico!"
Goeters of Mexico City will pull double duty by competing in the NASCAR BUSCH Series race, and the GRAND AM ROLEX SPORTS CAR Series race.
"I am extremely thrilled to begin my season with STAR in my homeland," states Goeters. "And I am not only excited to be with STAR, but perhaps more importantly, very appreciative that STAR through the direction of Sean is passionate about being committed to getting Hispanic Drivers on track, particularly in NASCAR."
STAR has partnered with Brewco Motorsports of Central City, Kentucky for the BUSCH race to put Goeters in the No. 27 Ford. Goeters will team up with No. 27 Crew Chief Stewart Cooper for this BUSCH Series race. Primary Sponsorship by Scotiabank, as well as Sponsorship by Xtreme Gel, and Kimberly-Clark's Kleenex.
"I am very impressed with the solid racing enterprise that Clarence Brewer, Jr. has established with Brewco! And I am pleased that Todd Wilkerson (President of Brewco) was able to work out a deal with STAR to get Jorge in the No. 27," said Holley.
Goeters has teamed up with Brewco in the past, including previous Telcel-Motorola 200 races. In the 2005 event Goeters and Brewco made history and won the pole for the inaugural NASCAR BUSCH race in Mexico by establishing the qualifying record of 103.336. And in last year's event Goeters brought home the No. 66 Brewco Ford Fusion in a strong 14th place finish.
"Brewco, Team Owner Clarence Brewer, Jr., and Crew Chief Stewart Cooper give me the equipment and direction that allow me to be very competitive and confident," declares Goeters. "I am at a track that I have significant experience and feel that working with Brewco I will have the No. 27 in strong competition."
STAR and Goeters will announce a 2007 schedule, which will include NEXTEL CUP Series race in Infineon, BUSCH Series races in Atlanta, Texas, Charlotte, Montreal, Watkins Glen, California, Texas, Phoenix, and Homestead, and various other racing series.
