Las Vegas, NV (March 3, 2001) - After starting the race from the 33rd position, Waltrip and the Aaronis "Dream Machine" charged to 21st in just 17 laps. Waltrip had one of the best handling cars in the early stages of the race before a "bad push" surfaced.

When Waltrip entered the corners, the car simply did not want to turn. Waltrip described it as the nose of the car sliding up the racetrack. On the second caution of the day, the crew made some minor adjustments to the car. Waltrip then raced his way up to the 11th position, when the car again picked up a "bad push".

On lap 72, the third caution of the day waved due to an accident on the backstretch. The Aaronis "Dream Machine" crew made an air pressure and track bar adjustment to the No. 99 Aaronis Chevrolet. Then on lap 87, Waltrip spun down the front stretch of Las Vegas Motor Speedway slapping the wall with the right front of the Aaronis "Dream Machine" Chevrolet. This caused extensive damage to the Aaronis "Dream Machine" ending their hopes of a top ten finish.
