Scott Riggs Fast Facts
New Hampshire International Speedway -- May 11, 2002
Riggs on New Hampshire: Riggs is looking forward to his first Busch Series start at New Hampshire International Speedway this weekend.
"I like racing in New Hampshire because it is challenging, " said Riggs. " There is only one groove to run on which makes it difficult to pass. It will be interesting to see if the track modifications actually open up another groove."
Riggs says it is his turn: ppc Racing has won the last four events with both drivers alternating in Victory Lane.
"After I won Nashville we were pumped, " said Riggs. Then Jason [Keller] went out and took Talladega and we came from the back of the field with the Nestle Nesquik Ford Taurus to win California. After Jason won in Richmond last week, I am feeling the pressure to keep the tradition going."
Happy Birthday to Russell Riggs: Russell Riggs, Scott's father, celebrates his 50th birthday Sunday, May 12th.
Harold Holly on New Hampshire: Holly says track position is everything in New Hampshire.
"Qualifying will be a key part to this weekend, " said Holly. "We need start in the front to be in contention for a win, but we will also need good pit stops to keep us there. Then again, we have all seen what Scott does from the back of the pack. I don't think he likes looking at the back of other cars, unless they are lapped!"
Equipment: The Nesquik Racing Team is taking the same car to New Hampshire that Scott drove to Victory Lane in Nashville earlier this year. This car has a history of great runs: Bristol March 2001-sat on the pole/finished 9th, Nashville April 2001-(outside pole, led 51 laps, finished 8th), Kentucky June 2001-outside pole, led 69 laps before an accident took them out of contention, St. Louis July 2001- qualified 3rd, finished 5th , Rockingham October 2000- led 118 of 197 laps.
