Lepage replaces Fuller in No. 40 Chevrolet

LAS VEGAS (Feb. 28, 1998) Doug Taylor, owner of the No. 40 Channellock Chevrolet, announced Friday that Kevin Lepage will replace Rick Fuller as his driver. Lepage qualified the No. 40 Monte Carlo in 16th position for the Sam's Town Las Vegas 300.

"I feel like this change will help make the Channellock team more competitive," Taylor said. "Channellock tasted victory before and I think this move will get us closer to the goal of being a consistent competitor and winning races.

"Rick Fuller is a talented driver and I know he will be successful, but having a more experienced driver like Kevin Lepage behind the wheel, I feel will be more beneficial to our race team."

Lepage, who finished eighth in the NASCAR Busch Series standings in 1996, is currently running a five-race deal with LJ Racing on the NASCAR Winston Cup Series.

"I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to drive for Channellock and Doug Taylor," Lepage said. "Nothing materialized for me on the Busch side at the beginning of the year, but I feel like this opportunity was definitely worth the wait.

"Channellock Racing is a first-class organization. They have shown a lot of confidence in me and I look forward to working with everyone involved."
