Reutimann Likes His Odds For Strong Finish At Las Vegas Motor Speedway
LAS VEGAS - March 7, 2007 -- David Reutimann and the No. 99 Aaron's Dream Machine team are set for a high-stakes game of action at Las Vegas Motor Speedway during the Sam's Club 300 NASCAR Busch Series event this Saturday afternoon.
"The guys are really pumped up after our finish in Mexico City," said Reutimann who is currently eighth in NASCAR Busch Series standings (171 points behind points leader Carl Edwards). "We finished 12th and moved up again in the points standings. I consider myself a rookie on a road course. I had never raced there before and we were still able to meet our goals by finishing in the top-15. Coming to Las Vegas with that energy, we hope to perform well enough to move us into the top-five in the points standings."
Reutimann tested the No. 99 Aaron's Dream Machine Toyota Camry at the 1.5-mile tri-oval in February.
"The car we are bringing to Las Vegas Motor Speedway tested well there last month," Reutimann said. "We tried some things and made changes based on that test that will be beneficial to us this weekend. We're hoping to bring the Aaron's Dream Machine into Victory Lane or at the least leave with a top-five finish."
Reutimann's crew chief is expecting the same results.
"We feel like we have a car capable of finishing in the top-five," Jerry Baxter said. "When we tested there, the first day went okay. On the second day, we were in the top-five. David likes the track and he finished strong there in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race last year."
Last season, Reutimann finished sixth in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event with Darrell Waltrip Motorsports at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
"I've ran three NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races at Las Vegas, but I've never raced a Busch car there," Reutimann said. "My best overall finish is sixth in a truck at that track. I really like the track and I'm hoping for similar results this weekend. I know Aaron's has over 10,000 associates who have really been cheering me on and supporting me this year. Because of that, it would be very special for me to put the Aaron's Dream Machine in Victory Lane Saturday."
