WALLACE TAKES MOMENTUM TO KENTUCKY

To say Stacker 2 driver Kenny Wallace is having a good week would be an under statement; he is having a great week. In the past week, Wallace has won at Eldora Speedway, played golf alongside members of the St. Louis Cardinals and finished second at Nashville Superspeedway. Wallace is hoping to carry that success to Kentucky Speedway this weekend. It has also been a week of fulfilled dreams for Wallace. To win at Eldora was a dream come true for Wallace, and the dream was made even better when he was able to beat Cup regulars to take home the three-foot trophy while donating his $10,000 winnings to the Victory Junction Gang Camp. In the coming weeks, Wallace will be able to attend a Cardinals game while receiving VIP treatment. Wallace and his wife, Kim, will get a tour of the clubhouse from manager Tony La Russa, participate in batting practice with Albert Pujols and hang out after the game for the press conference, among many other things.

KENNY WALLACE AT KENTUCKY SPEEDWAY

This will be Wallace's third start at Kentucky Speedway, and he hopes to reverse his fortunes this year in the Bluegrass State. In the previous three starts he only has one top-10 and has failed to finish the other two races. Wallace will be racing the car that he finished ninth in at Charlotte. ppc Racing is also looking to improve its performance at Kentucky Speedway. In seven starts the team has three top-fives and three top-10s. They have also been able to start five of the seven races in the top-six.

KENNY WALLACE IN THE POINTS

Wallace's second-place finish in Nashville made for a great points day. Wallace was able to remain in fifth place and is now separated from sixth by 84 points. He is only 60 points out of fourth and 156 points behind the new points leader, Reed Sorenson. Wallace has been able to gain 217 points on the leader in the past three weeks. This time last year, Wallace was 10th and 531 points out of the lead. Owner Greg Pollex moved up one spot to sixth.

QUOTING KENNY WALLACE

On Kentucky Speedway...

"We are still looking for a win. We're approaching Kentucky the same way and that is to get a solid top-10 finish. We are taking the Charlotte car there and we feel it will be very competitive.

"We have three second-place finishes and want a win. Kentucky is going to be a special event because Rusty is going to be racing and the race track is giving away 70,000 white towels with his name on it. The start of the race should be fun."

On winning Eldora...

"Winning at Eldora has always been a dream of mine. I have worked real hard to learn dirt racing over the last few years. My good friend Kenny Schrader has helped me learn dirt racing. It wasn't until a couple of weeks before Eldora that I realized it was going to be a real race so it means a lot to win. I have the three-foot trophy in my St. Louis house; I enjoy walking by it."

On the Albert Pujols Charity Golf Tournament...

"My love for Cardinals baseball is second to racing. Going to the games is a good outlet for me so that I can get ready to go racing. It was really neat to play golf along side people like Albert Pujols and Tony La Russa."

On Father's Day...

"I love my dad very much. If it weren't for him our family would not be racing. Not just do I look up to him as a dad, but he was a great racecar driver also."
